Spring 2019 Grant Round now open – click here to apply.

Big Impact can give funds to many deserving causes either by gifting it or through our grant programme. So far we have supported the following…

Gifting 2017-18

Italian Scotland

Fundraising at the Scottish Italian Awards provided a £2000 grant to support expansion of ‘Living Italian’ Classes.

We are glad to say they are now in full swing and will hopefully thrive in future years. “Grazie Mille” from us all at Italian Scotland.

Kilbryde Hospice

Kilbryde Hospice received a grant from Big Impact of £500.

A representative of the Hospice said:

Many thanks for the very kind donation of £500 for Kilbryde Hospice – it is very gratefully appreciated and will go a long way to providing care for people throughout Lanarkshire who are affected by life limiting illnesses. Here at Kilbryde Hospice we provide Day Services, Care @ Home Services and Drop-in Services and we will be opening our 12-bed in-patient unit later on in the summer, so your support really is appreciated.

HIV Scotland

Big Impact supported HIV Scotland’s recent education survey by donating an Apple Watch as an incentive for young people to fill out a survey on sexual health education in Scotland’s schools. Over 3,000 young people completed the survey, which is the basis for their new report ‘Fit for the Future.’

Georgia J was the winner of the Apple Watch. “

GRANT ROUND 1

Bipolar Scotland

Funding was provided to support Bipolar Scotland groups.

Of the various groups 48 individuals have undertaken Self-Management Training.  Jamie and Aymie have had the confidence to share their stories publicly with others.

Regular contact with others in the groups improves the quality of life and reduces isolation.

Your support has enabled us to provide crucial support to people affected by bipolar at a time of increased need and decreased funding.

Deaf Connections

In March 2018 Deaf Connections were given a grant to use towards communication support for sport classes

The Charity used the grant to arrange keep fit classes using a qualified teacher who is a British Sign Language user.  The class sizes continued to grow in size during the year and they now plan to continue, hoping the class fee will now cover the cost.

Deaf Connections are very grateful to the Big Impact Charity for supporting this project. Without the funding the project would not have gone ahead.

Glasgow Home-Start North

At the beginning of 2018, Home-Start Glasgow North received a grant from Big Impact of over £900. The money was used to deliver Child Protection update training which is mandatory for all staff & volunteers in line with Home-Start procedures, alongside further training on the importance of nurture and attachment in child development. The course was able to run on two separate days thanks to the grant as there was a high demand from volunteers.

A representative from Home-Start Glasgow North said:

“In sum, this very valuable training was popular and appreciated by attendees with people’s knowledge increasing, and we are very grateful to Big Impact for enabling us to provide this excellent opportunity.”

Charity Partner Fundraising 2018

Spinabifida Hydrocephalus Scotland

In May 2018, Big Impact raised £5815.15 for Spinabifida Hydrocephalus Scotland.

It was great to meet with the team from Big Impact this morning. They came in to present us with a cheque for £5815.15 raised from their Scottish Entertainment Awards. A Big thank you to everyone who donated and for choosing us. The money will go into our essential funding of family support workers providing services right across Scotland

GRANT ROUND 2

Pride Proms Project

Pride Prom’s provides Pride Prom for LGBTI+ young people from Glasgow and surrounding areas. This will provide attendees with a safe, positive and educational environment, that promotes pride, inspiration and acceptance for all, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. The organisation aims to create opportunities for emotional growth, inclusion and freedom of expression as well as raising the profile and increasing awareness of the LGBTI+ community.

Parent Campus Transport

Community Group in Kilbirnie needing to fund bus transport :

The money received from Big Impact has basically kept our bus running over the winter months when it has been needed most. Our bus is a set price every week shared between the parents using the bus – empty seats due to illness and exam leave would create a shortfall  –  the grant has allowed us to cover the shortfall of empty seats ensuring the bus continued to run.

We also used some of the money to reduce the weekly cost to all parents in the run up to Christmas. Again at this time of year several of our senior pupils are on study leave and not using the bus, the cost of the empty seats is being covered by the remaining money ensuring the weekly cost of the bus hire is met.

Without this money from the Big Impact our bus simply would not have continued to run, all the parents are very grateful to the Big Impact for ensuring our children continue to arrive at school safe, dry and comfortable.  Thank you!
